An elephant at the game drive in the Mara

Massai Mara ” Animals are such agreeable friends-they ask no questions ;they pass no criticisms.” George Eliot . This blog is for those who love travelling and who love animals .The blog is about the Mara ,how to get there and what facilities are being offered.

Massai Mara …. for any wildlife enthusiast it would be a heaven for him or her ranging from the famous big five to the lush green grass which sparkles in glimmering dew at the dawn break .In the day and night the streams and rivers are ever flowing quenching the thirsts of the animals. It is locally also known as the Mara .The Mara is a large game reserve in Narok County, Kenya contiguous with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. We visited the Mara last year with ,y family and for sure I really liked it I did not expect to see such beauty in one place .Its a place I would highly recommend people to visit and I would definitely go back .

HISTORY OF THE MARA.

Originally designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1961 during the colonial period in Kenya, Masai Mara was expanded to cover more of the area where the vast numbers of wild animals were inhabiting and using as wildlife corridors to move from Serengeti to the Mara. Subsequently, the respective local county councils, namely Narok and Trans Mara were given the responsibility of managing the Eastern and Western sides of the reserve respectively. The Western side of the reserve includes the Mara Triangle. The reserve is now largely held as one of the leading wildlife conservation areas in the world, known for the famous wildebeest migration.

HOW TO GET THERE AND WHY VISIT.

Visit the Mara for A magnificent collection of wild animals, stunning landscapes with wide open spaces for as far as the eye can see, superb year round climate and internationally acclaimed accommodation which ranges from exclusive luxury Tented Camps and safari lodges to budget camping options, Masai Mara ticks all the right boxes when it comes to visiting a stunning destination in Africa. Many thousands of travelers also specially come to see the world famous annual wildebeest migration when a million plus wild animals migrate north from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara. How to get there should not worry you.Drive – Driving will take you about 5-6 hours. Nairobi to Narok will take you about 2-2.5 hours, the road is absolutely beautiful and smooth. Fly – There are a few companies that fly to the Masaai Mara. It takes about 40 – 45 minutes from Nairobi. I prefer travelling by road it is very adventurous and you get to see many things on the way and also animals

ACTIVITIES TO ENGAGE IN WHILE THERE.

There are very many activities to get involved in while in the Mara and the good thing is all of them are fun and exciting. Some of them include

  • Morning and evening game drives
  • Hot air balloon adventure
  • Wildebeest migration

Game Drives : Game drive is an interesting and a major thought of activity while in the park.it involves searching for wild animals with a safari van or land cruiser or pop up car and exploring the wilderness of the Massai Mara and its African wildlife right away from Oloololo Gate the entrance to the Massai Mara National Reserve and the Mara Triangle. These animals can be well spotted out in the open grassland of the park with the help of the tour guides and the game ranger sharing expert knowledge and information about each species and their behavior giving you a completely different perspective of an African savannah. I loved game drives because I could see lions hunting for food every morning . Beautiful!

Hot air balloon. Hot Air Balloon Safaris over the Mara River, forests and plains of the Masaai Mara National Reserve. The adventure begins just before dawn. Departure is from a perfect natural launch .It is such a beautiful experience you get to see the animals from a different angle and the whole game park .I would highly recommend for one to do this while there.

Hot air balloon adventure

Wildebeest Migration. Wildebeest migrate on a loop path through Tanzania and Kenya following the seasonal rains even when that involves passing through dangerous territory. This is one of the major things that take people to the Mara To have an experience of these animals moving from one place to another. Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
